Slow and Strong Sundays (zoom)

This zoom class uses a slower pace of movement to focus on body awareness and a balance of strength and mobility. Breath technique is used throughout - to engage your core, relax your nervous system, and release muscle tension.

Yoga for Strength and Stress Relief (with chairs - Mt. Airy Learning Tree)

In yoga, movement and breath are equal partners in promoting strength, self-awareness, and relaxation. In this class, we work on overall strength and mobility, with an emphasis on poses that increase core strength and balance. We use breathing techniques for core engagement and others for relaxation. This class is appropriate for beginners and for those looking to focus on fundamentals. Props are used strategically to maximize the strength-building and relaxing qualities of the poses. Chairs are used to progress in balancing sequences and to build endurance in positions like plank pose. Blocks and straps are used to make stretching more comfortable, to allow access to deep breathing, and to enhance the stress-relieving potential of the practice.

This class is offering three times per year - fall, winter, and spring as an 8 week session.

Gentle Flow (Blue Banyan Yoga Studio)

Prepare your body and mind for whatever the day brings with breath, mobility, and stretch. Learn breathing techniques for focus, gentle core engagement, and relaxation. On top of breath, you’ll layer movement that focuses on mobilizing your spine and other joints and dynamically stretching muscles. Some longer-held stretches will be included to work with connective tissue, your nervous system, and a meditative focus. Props and variations will be offered to allow you to customize your practice.

This is a weekly class at Blue Banyan Yoga Studio in Mt. Airy - Tuesdays, 9-10am. Pre-registration is required, and you can take the class in person or via zoom. You can pay for a drop-in or purchase a class card at their website: https://bluebanyanyoga.com/

Yoga at the Roxborough YMCA

This class has a good balance of strength, stretch, and attention to body position and alignment. Instruction on using breath for core engagement, monitoring exertion, and enhancing passive stretches is always included. (YMCA membership is required to attend this class, which is offered Friday mornings, 10-11am.)

Individualized classes designed for your needs and goals. Strength, flexibility, mental focus, relaxation, building a home practice, learning about alignment, yoga philosophy, posture- these are all examples of what could be emphasized. Classes can take place in person or over zoom. Sessions are $75+/hr (depending on where they take place). Please send me a message if you are interested!

In yoga, movement and breath are equal partners in promoting strength, self-awareness, and relaxation. In this class, we work on overall strength and mobility. We build deep core strength through breath and movement to support easeful posture. We also use breath as a relaxation tool.

This class is appropriate for beginners and for those looking to focus on fundamentals. Props are used strategically to maximize the strength-building and relaxing qualities of the poses. Blocks, straps and blankets are all used to make stretching more comfortable, to allow access to deep breathing, and to enhance the stress-relieving potential of the practice.

This class will run on 8 week cycles. Registration here will sign you up for an 8 week session for $120 ($15/class). You can also drop in with cash or venmo for $20/class.
