shoulders and downward facing dog
We've been working on shoulders in my on-going, weekly classes, specifically external rotation of arms and stability of shoulder blades. You've externally rotated your arms down by your sides, at shoulder height, and with arms overhead. In each position, the external rotation helps to stabilize your shoulder blades on your back. In downdog, the action of external rotation feels like rotating your inner elbows forward, biceps towards cheeks, triceps down towards the floor. This allows your shoulder blades to upwardly rotate, moving up and out towards your side ribs. And this means maximum space in your shoulder joint and stability of your shoulder blades.
